Point Cloud Generation for Meshfree Methods: An Overview

Abstract Meshfree methods are becoming an increasingly popular alternative to mesh-based of numerical simulation. The biggest stated advantage meshfree is the avoidance generating a mesh on computational domain. However, even today surprisingly large amount literature ironically uses nodes as point set that discretizes On other hand, already existing efficient generate clouds apparently not very well known among communities, which has led recent work redeveloping algorithms. In this paper, we present brief overview cloud generation for domains and surfaces discuss their features challenges, in particular context applicability industry-relevant complex geometries.
